The Portly Whale is an oceanfront, standalone home with a 3-stop elevator (code compliant as of April 2023) and views of the sunrise and Seaview Pier in North Topsail Beach, North Carolina.
Saturday to Saturday, 7 night weekly rentals (you must check-in and out on a Saturday) from April - October.
3 night minimum November - March.
There is an additional cleaning fee and a linen fee. All beds are prepared upon arrival.
We offer high-speed internet, Spectrum cable (via the Spectrum app) and smart televisions (new 2023) in every bedroom, as well as the living room.
When you arrive, gather your luggage and groceries and load them into the 3-stop elevator located inside the garage. Travel up to where your beach vacation begins! Note: The 2nd floor stop is inside the bunk bedroom on the 2nd level; we have included a safety feature (calling the elevator from this level requires a code) in the event children staying in this room become curious.
The property is located at the end of a dead-end, oceanfront lane with only a few other homes, making it very private, with no through traffic or street parking permitted. Our private beach walkover is located just across the lane. 2023 is the first time this home has been offered for rent.
Enjoy all the comforts of today’s modern amenities in this timeless Carolina beach “cottage” with hardwood floors and cedar plank walls. The Portly Whale features a small area in front for outdoor recreation, an outdoor shower, an outdoor fish cleaning station, a 3-stop elevator, as well as all new (2023) electrical switches, ceiling fans, and in 2023, refreshed kitchen (new cabinets, counters and appliances) and baths (new cabinets, counters and floors). This multi-generation/family-friendly home offers some of the best oceanfront views on the island (we might be a little biased). From the kitchen and great room, as well as from three of the five bedrooms and two oceanfront decks, you can take in the spectacular sunrise and sunset while enjoying visions of playful dolphins, sea birds, a myriad of boats, surfers, beachcombers, and the Seaview Pier. Take a break from fun front yard games (cornhole and a washer pit), and make your way across your own private boardwalk (we do allow one neighbor/owner to access our privately owned boardwalk) to the sandy beach and surf. Take a short walk to the Seaview Pier and enjoy an ice cream, breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Seaview Restaurant, or some pier fishing (there is a charge for pier entrance). Just on the other side of the pier, enjoy the culinary delights of Splash by the Sea, a fantastic pool and oceanside restaurant located within the Villa Capriani community.
Note that this home is on a septic system - extra care is required for kitchen and bath waste disposal.
